A Swarm in May is worth a Load of Hay

The bees are swarming …making new hives. We are busy capturing swarms.  Soon it will be time to rob the beehives and taste the new season of honey. The title this month comes from an old rhyme.20160510_082002 (1)

Our sheep are returning to the normal mode after the lambing season. Lambs are learning to be big now that their mothers are gone back to the flock. It is a busy time on the farm. Cleaning barns, mowing fields and planting the garden are added to the normal routine. There is a season for everything.

The chicks we hatched in November are finally grown and have begun laying eggs.  It seems a long time since we have had our own eggs.

The Knit/Spin/Crochet In will be held on May 20, 2017 from 10-3 at the Red Barn Studio on Heelside Farms. We are excited to have you visit the farm, rest awhile and enjoy the company of other fiber minded people. See you then.
