Spinning Off The Point: The Magic of Long Draw with Jane Bynum
Spinning long draw, frequently described as “woolen” spinning, is a great way to create light, soft, fluffy yarn from carded wool. It is also an efficient and traditional way to spin short fibers, including cotton and cashmere. Long draw spinning can be frustrating at first, because you need to manage your fiber and twist with one hand. In this workshop, students will learn two approaches to unsupported long draw using wool and cotton on supported spindles. They will also have an opportunity to spin on a charkha and possibly a Great Wheel (AKA Walking Wheel or Wool Wheel). All materials are provided, including a spindle to take home and enough wool, and cotton for the class. Class Fee $60.00 Materials Fee $20.00. Class size will be limited.
To reserve your place please send a check for $20.00 made out to Jane Bynum to Heelside Farms at the above address by January 20th. This will be deducted from your class fee. You may also use paypal.
